🥶 Following the Halloween snowfall, cooler temperatures in the 40s will settle in across the state. Light rain showers may occur in western Minnesota.

☀️ Warmer air is on the way for the weekend. Temperatures will warm back to above our seasonal average, which is around 50 degrees.

Should Minnesota continue to put lottery dollars toward the environment?

Currently 40 percent of proceeds from the state lottery go into a fund aimed at protecting the state’s environment. Next week voters will decide whether to renew the fund for another 25 years. But a proposed addition is getting some pushback.
 
Poll: A majority of Americans have participated in democracy this campaign season

New findings from the McCourtney Institute for Democracy’s latest Mood of the Nation Poll show that a majority of Americans have engaged in at least one type of political activity over the course of this year’s campaign season. Of the seven activities listed in the survey, sharing political messages online was the most common.
 
These 2 people with felony records are voting in their 1st presidential election on Tuesday

Nearly 57,000 formerly incarcerated Minnesotans will be able to vote on Tuesday, according to Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon. That includes Calvin Boswell, 35, and Mario Jackson, 41, both who spent more than 10 years in prison. Now they’re looking forward to casting their first-ever vote in a presidential election on Nov. 5.
🗳️ Southern Minnesota House District 18A's history of flip-flopping attracts a lot of outside funding. With a recent history of voting Republican during presidential elections and Democrat in the midterms, District 18A is attracting a lot of attention in the 2024 election. GOP hopeful Erica Schwartz is looking to unseat incumbent DFL Rep. Jeff Brand.

🗓️ Events happening around the state during Native American Heritage Month. Gatherings both large and small are happening across the state including the Iron Range, St. Cloud, Mankato and the Twin Cities metro region  throughout November.

🎃 Halloween snow! Photos and snowfall totals from around Minnesota. Neither rain nor snow stopped Minnesotans of all ages from enjoying Halloween. Photographer Erica Dischino went to northern Minnesota and captured these moments.

📄 Minneapolis cannabis regulations won't mandate buffer zone between dispensaries.  Cannabis dispensaries won’t open in Minneapolis until 2025, but the city took a significant regulatory step Thursday by adopting a set of zoning rules that will apply to cannabis sellers, manufacturers and other related businesses. 

💞 Love is Blind’s Minneapolis season to start on Valentine’s Day 2025.
The news was shared during the reality show’s reunion episode, where three Minnesota cast members also appeared.

🏛️ Federal judge dismisses lawsuit filed against state trooper by family of Ricky Cobb II. A federal judge has dismissed a civil lawsuit against a Minnesota state trooper stemming from the fatal shooting of a man during an attempted traffic stop along a Twin Cities freeway last year.

🔍 Minneapolis city officials plan independent review of police handling of shooting case. Minneapolis city officials said Thursday there will be an independent review of the Minneapolis Police Department’s handling of a south Minneapolis shooting.

🚨 Man shot by St. Paul police now charged in connection with Minneapolis shooting. A man who was shot and wounded by St. Paul police on Monday evening has been charged in connection with a shooting in Minneapolis hours earlier.

💰 Minneapolis will pay man who witnessed Floyd’s murder $30,000. On Thursday the Minneapolis City Council agreed to settle McMillian’s lawsuit which alleges that he suffered from emotional distress due to what he experienced.
🎧 The tradition of poetry on Día de los Muertos. You may be familiar with the decorative skulls seen during the celebration known as calaveras. But calavera is also a term for a poem written for the Day of the Dead.

🎧 In a sign of the times, Minnesota camp for kids with HIV is closing.  Camp Heartland in Willow River served as a safe haven for more than 30 years for kids with HIV. But with mother-to-child transmission of HIV virtually eliminated in the U.S., the camp is closing its doors.
