🌧️ Temperatures Wednesday will be in the 40s across most of Minnesota with scattered showers throughout the day. The bulk of the rainfall will be in central, south-central and southwest Minnesota.

🌞 We’re in for a mild couple days Friday and Saturday with the most sunshine on Friday. Both days will see highs in the 50s across much of central and southern Minnesota.

Minneapolis punk show mass shooting victims react as teen takes plea deal

Nudieland was a cornerstone for the local punk community. On Aug. 11, 2023, about 30 to 50 people were gathered there for a backyard gathering and concert when gunfire erupted. Cyrell Boyd, 18, is one of the teens facing charges for the shooting that killed one man, 35-year-old August Golden, and injured six other people.
 
Will Trump’s election slow the shift to clean energy? Two policy experts weigh in

Last week’s election could have major impacts on U.S. efforts to shift to cleaner energy and curb climate change. President-elect Donald Trump has called climate change a hoax, and pledged support for fossil fuels. He’s also promised to roll back many of the climate initiatives launched under the Biden-Harris administration.
🏥 St. Paul to wipe out medical debt for 32,000 residents. The city analyzed resident incomes and debt levels and prioritized those with the highest need. City officials said the $40 million program will help alleviate medical costs for debt-strapped residents.

💰 After conviction vacated, Marvin Haynes files claim for nearly $2M for wrongful incarceration. Under state law, Haynes is entitled to at least $50,000 for every year he was wrongfully incarcerated. Haynes is seeking $100,000 per year.

👨🏾‍⚖️ Minnesota attorney general on Trump: ‘If he violates the rights of people, we’re going to sue.’ The legal threat puts Ellison and other Democratic attorneys general in a familiar position  as Trump is preparing to start his second term in January.

🛶 Investigators believe Wisconsin kayaker faked his own death before fleeing to eastern Europe. A Wisconsin man apparently faked his own drowning this summer so he could abandon his family and flee to eastern Europe, investigators say.

Minnesota Twins initiate front office transition with Falvey to president, Zoll to GM, St. Peter to adviser. The Twins announced their executive leadership changes on Tuesday. The transition will take place in the first quarter of 2025,  as approved by owners Jim Pohlad and Joe Pohlad.

💵 Hennepin County will pay $3.4 million to family of man who died in jail. Lucas Bellamy had been in jail for three days in July 2022 when he died of an infection after suffering a perforated intestine. The 41-year-old was the son of Penumbra Theater founder Lou Bellamy.

🎤 Trump nominates Fox News host and Minnesotan Pete Hegseth for defense secretary. Hegseth, 44, is a co-host of Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends Weekend” and has been a contributor with the network since 2014, where he developed a friendship with Trump, who made regular appearances on the show.

❤️ ‘It’s the best week’: After being wrongly incarcerated, a Minnesota man is now free. For 16 years, Edgar Barrientos-Quintana served a life sentence for a crime he didn't commit. On Tuesday, he thanked the people who helped him walk out of prison as a free man.

🦌 Minnesota DNR reports successful firearms deer hunting opening weekend.
Todd Froberg, the DNR big game program coordinator, said about 55,000 deer were harvested over the first two days of the season.  

🎆 Fireworks incident raises tensions in the Mankato Muslim community. The incident began Sunday, when an individual was seen lighting something on an exterior fence of the center. When a mosque member intervened the individual fled on a bike.
🎧 While bombarded with notifications, distraction and comparison, teens work to define digital well-being. On Monday in Minneapolis a group of health researchers, educators and youth leaders gathered to discuss how screen time affects students’ lives and brainstorm how to have better digital health.
