🌡️ Here we go again. Highs will be back in the 70s across southern Minnesota — nearly 20 degrees above normal. We’ll have filtered sun through high clouds and the warm weather will stick around into Tuesday.

🎃 A cold front will touch off rain late Tuesday into Wednesday. The showers should wrap up Halloween morning, making for a dry evening for trick-or-treaters.

Amy Klobuchar and Royce White face off in U.S. Senate debate

Democratic incumbent Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Republican challenger Royce White faced off in their only U.S. Senate debate Sunday morning hosted by WCCO Radio.

Klobuchar, who was first elected in 2006, is seeking a fourth term in the Senate. White, a former professional basketball player who now hosts a podcast, said the status quo in Washington needs to be shaken up.
 
100,000 rides in less than 6 months: Why riders are digging the Amtrak Borealis

Over 100,000 people have ridden on Amtrak’s new route between St. Paul and Chicago, according to Amtrak officials.

The Borealis train hit the ridership milestone on Oct. 24, five months since opening the route to riders. The passenger line is Amtrak’s second daily train connecting St. Paul to Milwaukee and Chicago, with some stops in between.
🚨 Another shooting at a Minneapolis homeless encampment Sunday; 2 dead, 1 injured.It happened one day after a shooting at a different homeless encampment. On Saturday, one man was killed and two people were critically injured near the corner of 21st Street and 15th Avenue South.

🏫  8 school districts to watch as Minnesotans go to the polls Nov. 5. More than 300 Minnesota school districts have open board seats to fill on Election Day. While this year’s competition isn’t as intense as in recent years, many districts have multiple candidates on their ballots.

🐎 Dakota riders will ride again, continuing a legacy starting in December. After the Dakota 38+2 Memorial Ride ended in 2022, participants wanted the legacy to continue. Now they are starting the next chapter with two new rides — the Mankato Healing and Reconciliation Ride and The Dakota Exile Ride.

🌲 DNR and residents sue to block controversial resort development outside Ely. State environmental regulators and a group of northeastern Minnesota residents have filed separate lawsuits to block a proposed $45 million resort development near Ely and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.

🕯️ ‘Long overdue’: Indigenous people in Minnesota react as Biden apologizes for federal boarding school policy. Indigenous people from Minnesota watched as President Joe Biden apologized for the traumas endured by tens of thousands of children at boarding schools. While some felt the apology was a good first step, others felt it did not go far enough.

🏠 Preserving a legacy: Nonprofit raises money to save home of first Black Fergus Falls resident. The former home of Fergus Falls’ first Black resident, Prince Honeycutt, is in jeopardy of being forfeited to the county if a Nov. 1 deadline to pay $10,000 for a longstanding city assessment isn’t met.

🏒  Manslaughter probe continues 1 year after hockey player Adam Johnson's death. Johnson was killed after his neck was fatally cut by an opponent's skate during a game in England. Thousands of fans witnessed the grisly collision,   but authorities have not announced a decision about whether they will bring charges.

🏈 Max Brosmer throws season-high 4 TD passes as Minnesota routs Maryland 48-23 to win third straight. Max Brosmer threw two of his season-high four touchdown passes early, Justin Walley added a pick-six and Minnesota scored three first-quarter touchdowns and easily beat Maryland 48-23 Saturday.
🎧 'They saved our day:' How strangers came together to pull off a wedding after venue shut down just 11 days prior. It’s any couple’s worst nightmare — less than two weeks to your wedding day and  all of the sudden you have no venue. That's what happened to a Minnesota bride and groom. The bride turned to TikTok for help, racking up 6 million views.

🎧 Politics Friday: The race to lead the Minnesota Legislature.
The Senate majority will be decided by a single, winner-take-all race in the western suburbs. As for the House, key races in northern Minnesota and some in the south could determine if the DFL trifecta will live on into 2025.
