🌞 Enjoy what’s likely to be the last 80-degree day of the 2024 season. High temperatures for Thursday are 20-25 degrees above normal for the date.
🌬️ Two cold fronts will drop temperatures by Sunday to the coldest readings since April. Light rain is also possible.
The annual wild rice season typically occurs from late August to early October. However, three tribal communities in northern Minnesota saw a late start to the season as beds were not ready to be harvested. Wild rice can be more than just a staple food or source of income. It is a sacred resource that embodies traditions, cultural heritage and relationships with the land.
We’re living in rare times for seeing northern lights this year in Minnesota. It turns out this solar cycle has been very good at producing auroras visible over Minnesota. And our dry weather pattern has produced many clear sky nights so we can see the shows. Another possible opportunity to see them arrives Thursday night.
