For the first time in more than half a century, Notting Hill Carnival won’t be happening over the August bank holiday. Except that it will. This coming weekend, you can catch three days of virtual Carnival action, streamed across four channels, including live DJ sets from King Tubby’s and Rampage soundsystem, plus tons of stuff around Carnival culture and Black history. Crack open a Red Stripe at 10am and get one of your housemates to charge you a quid every time you use the toilet – it’ll be like you’re there.

Tate Modern has reopened and – with it – its tremendous Andy Warhol retrospective. Unlike some other blockbuster exhibitions which have emerged from lockdown only to sell out straight away (the V&A’s kimono show, for instance), there are still tickets for the Lord of Pop Art. Also, it’s great. All the Andy faves: Elvis, Brillo boxes, fatal car crashes and Liz Taylor’s giant face. As the platinum icing on the cake, there’s even a display case of his silvery wigs.

Plants for days The other week, the Barbican Conservatory opened to the public and was a huge hit (though it was terrifyingly hot during the heatwave). It’s now extended its opening times, so you can visit seven days a week for some lush tropical vegetation and 1970s vibes.

Secret gig Join the Campfire Club on Wednesday evening for a live stream of an acoustic show from Nick Hart and Ewan McLennan in the extraordinary surroundings of one of London’s most secretive and fascinating houses, the riverside Master Shipwright’s Palace in Deptford.
