Kevin Johnson, 37, was put to death Tuesday at the state prison in Bonne Terre, Missouri. Johnson had admitted to shooting and killing Kirkwood Police Sgt. William McEntee in 2005, when Johnson was 19. In a ruling late Monday, the Missouri Supreme Court denied a stay of execution, rejecting an appeal arguing that racial discrimination played a part in Johnson's receiving the death penalty.
