Seasonable Friday with some sunshineSome good news here, it’s almost Friday, the weekend is nearly here, and it’s going to be less cold! -- Highs tomorrow will be around the lower 50s in the Twin Cities, with mostly sunny skies.

‘I cannot risk that at this time’: Walz comments on GOP pushback over stay-home order extension. As Minnesota reported 11 more deaths Thursday, bringing the tally to 50, with 1,242 confirmed cases, Minnesota Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka ripped the DFL governor’s extended stay-at-home order on Twitter, saying, “We have to get on with our lives.”

Walz responded during his daily briefing: “You can’t get frustrated, go on a hunch and throw caution to the wind and pretend that our neighbors’ lives are somehow disposable.”

Dr. Fauci: U.S. final tally more likely ‘60,000’; antibody tests will be available ‘very soon.’ Dr. Anthony Fauci says the final tally currently "looks more like 60,000 than the 100,000 to 200,000" that U.S. officials previously estimated. He added, “the antibody tests are developed, there are several out there … in days to weeks, we'd be able to have a large number of these tests available."

A South Dakota pork plant’s employees account for 1 in 5 COVID-19 cases in the state. Plant temporarily shut. Smithfield Foods says its pork processing plant in Sioux Falls will temporarily close for cleaning after over 80 employees were confirmed to have the coronavirus. The plant, which employees about 3,700 people in the state’s largest city, has emerged as a hotspot of infections, accounting for at least 1 in 5 confirmed cases in South Dakota.

Nearly 17 million Americans have lost jobs amid pandemic. With a startling 6.6 million people seeking jobless benefits last week, the United States has reached a grim landmark. More than 1 in 10 workers have lost their jobs in just the past three weeks to the coronavirus outbreak. The U.S. economy will shrink at an astonishing 30 percent annual rate in the April-June quarter — even including the government’s new $2.2 trillion relief measure — a model projects.
