PRC Laser to relocate to Ladson

The company, a manufacturer of industrial lasers and laser systems, is moving its headquarters from New Jersey to Charleston County. The company is investing $1.4 million to renovate its space and is expected to create 73 new jobs.

The specialty recreational boat manufacturer’s $3.4 million expansion is expected to create 63 jobs and is slated to be complete by the fourth quarter. The company, founded in 2017, is expanding its facility at 1124 Pineview Drive in Columbia.

Tate named new USC provost

William F. “Bill” Tate IV was among three finalists for the post. He was also one of four finalists for the position of USC president last year. He becomes the first African American provost in the university’s history. His selection was unanimously approved by the school’s board of trustees, according to a news release.
