Bank of S.C. reports Q2 loss of nearly $500,000

Despite the losses, bank President Fleetwood S. Hassell said the bank is doing well in mortgages and deposits. The bank also originated 266 loans totaling more than $37 million as part of the federal Payroll Protection Program.

Clemson launches AI research institute

Clemson University is consolidating its ongoing and future artificial intelligence research, led by 80 faculty members, under one roof. The umbrella organization, called the Clemson Artificial Intelligence Research Institute for Science and Engineering, also will spearhead STEM workforce development projects.

MLILY USA expanding Winnsboro mattress factory

The expansion is expected to create 65 jobs at the 650,000-square-foot facility and increase production by more than 4,000 units a day. The additional jobs will bring the factory to full employment with 250 workers.
