U.S. Commerce Department awards $3.2M to 8 S.C. groups

The U.S. Department of Commerce is granting $3.2 million in coronavirus relief to eight organizations across the state, helping to bolster their economic development efforts during the pandemic.

S.C. reaches record settlement over plutonium at SRS

The federal government will pay the state $600 million and remove tons of weapons-grade plutonium from the Savannah River Site under terms of a settlement announced this morning. The mixed-oxide fuel fabrication plant that was supposed to process the plutonium was never built, and the project was abandoned in 2018.

S.C. Stimulus Research Program announces 2020 projects

Under the S.C. Stimulus Research Program, state universities are delving into projects including replacing damaged blood vessels, transcending the boundaries of lithium ion batteries and using bioreactors for sustainable municipal wastewater treatment.
