Google is a data-hungry juggernaut — but Gmail, Google Search and Chrome are among the most popular apps and services on the planet. If you're already part of the ecosystem, you might as well take advantage of some of the free stuff you have access to.

Do you use Gmail? We do at Komando HQ, and here’s a quick productivity trick we love. Find yourself writing the same basic message often? Create a template to give yourself a shortcut.

• Go into Settings > See all settings > Advanced.
• Scroll to the section marked Templates and click Enable.
• To make a template, click Compose and write your text in the email window. Then go to the bottom and find the three dots in the right-hand corner. When you roll over, a tab will pop up that says More options.
• Click on the Templates menu to save your draft as a template. To insert a template you’ve created, go to the More > Templates menu tab again and choose your template.
