The latest major innovation in digital media technology is 4K or Ultra High Definition (UHD) video resolution.
Along with the higher number of pixels in UHD, many trials and discussions are taking place around Wide Colour Gamut (WCG).
The existing colour space used for HD is in line with Rec 709, and the industry seems to be moving towards Rec.2020 for UHD broadcasts, offering brighter whites and darker blacks.
Higher Dynamic Range (HDR) is also a consideration for 4K broadcasts, along with possible High Frame Rates (HFR).
All these features enhance the already impressive 4K picture quality.
