Summer might be drawing to a close, but the currency market certainly didn’t slow down in August.

GBP – Summer holidays dismal for the pound

Instead of spending the summer holidays kicking back in a deckchair with a Mr Whippy, the pound has spent the last few weeks cowering in the face of a serious storm of negative headwinds.

EUR – Euro stronger before German election

August was another solid month for the euro, with the common currency racking up substantial gains against its major currency rivals.

AUD – ‘Aussie’ benefits from USD losses

The Australian dollar had something of a mixed month in August, fluctuating within a fairly narrow band against the US dollar but closing out the month in a stronger position against the pound and New Zealand dollar.
