Good afternoon. Here's a look at what's making news in Baton Rouge today.

Police shooting

We've learned more about a deputy's fatal shooting of a man whose twin brother was being sought on a kidnapping charge. Officers had gone to the man's house, an investigators say he answered the door with a gun in his hand. Here's the latest.

Defense spending

The East Baton Rouge Parish judges sued by a colleague over seniority rules have been using public funds to defend themselves. So far, their tab is up to $170,000. The judge who filed the lawsuit wants the state Supreme Court to find out whether the arrangement is legal.

Nursing animals

The owner of several Louisiana nursing homes that saw its residents moved to a warehouse in Tangipahoa Parish as Hurricane Ida approached last August is under investigation in Oregon for leaving animals out in bad weather. Law officers out west say as many as 200 head of cattle were stranded in the snow.
