Your gift will help end the drive
| | John, In the nearly three decades that I have been hosting Forum, I’ve talked to hundreds of experts and, I hope, helped you understand thousands of topics that affect our communities. 2020 has been full of new challenges and, at Forum, we have endeavored to keep you informed about every one of them. With an election on the horizon, devastating wildfires throughout the Bay Area and the ongoing effects of the global pandemic, it is critical that our communities have a trusted source that allows them to find the facts they need in such a turbulent world. KQED and Forum are here to provide you with the latest expert advice and up-to-the-minute news. Earlier this year we began to focus the second hour of Forum on COVID‑19. Recognizing the importance of accurate information on this subject, we offered this critical program to public radio stations across the state. Over the summer, we decided to pivot again and begin focusing the second hour of Forum on issues of race, social justice and equity. My colleague Mina Kim is hosting this newly-refocused second hour and continuing to foster thoughtful dialogue around these critical subjects for all Californians. Community-supported public radio is able to make these types of important changes to programming because we are not beholden to the interests of shareholders—we answer to you. I know that many of you rely on KQED and, with so much news breaking every day, interruptions in the schedule can prevent you from getting the information you need. That’s why this radio pledge drive is going to be a little different. We’re making a promise to you: as soon as we meet our $1,450,000 goal, the drive will end. A group of generous donors has offered to match up to $100,000 this week. Please join them in supporting the invaluable quality journalism and fact-based information that has long been the cornerstone of KQED and the Forum program. We have already raised $79,860 out of our $100,000 match. There's still time to have your gift matched! And no matter what, your contribution will directly impact the number of days we are on-air during this drive. KQED truly relies on the support of our audience members, and we wouldn’t be able to provide nuanced conversations and varying perspectives without donations from individuals like you. Thank you for your support of Forum and KQED. |
