State highway officials say they have evidence that people like continuous flow intersections, once they become accustomed to them. They point to the traffic circle at the intersection of La. 22 and La. 70 just southwest of Sorrento as evidence that people want more. Since 2003, the state has put in 175 roundabouts on roads it manages, including in Abita Springs, Baton Rouge, Hammond, Homer, Leesville, Monroe, New Orleans, Port Vincent, Rayville, Slidell, Walker and Youngsville. East Baton Rouge is looking to regulate short-term rentals like AirBNB. So far the city-parish hasn't imposed any restrictions, but that could start to change once planners meet tonight.
