Great Lakes drowning deaths up, especially in Lake Michigan   As of Sunday, the Great Lakes had 51 drowning deaths spread between their waters. When considered in total, that's two more than this time last year. If you look at Lake Michigan specifically, though, you'll see a shocking increase in drowning deaths. So far, 27 people have died from drowning in Lake Michigan. That is up from 15 deaths at this time in 2018. Many who drown are considered good swimmers. Michigan football ranked in top 10 in early, revised preseason polls hat  The high expectations continue for the Wolverines, as new preseason polls place Michigan football among the best in the country.
