10 of the Democrats running for president duke it out during first night of Detroit debates
 
Over the course of nearly three hours last night, 10 presidential candidates discussed their thoughts on immigration, trade, racism and much more. Oh, and that was only night one of two. Great Lakes drowning deaths up, especially in Lake Michigan
 
As of Sunday, the Great Lakes had 51 drowning deaths spread between their waters. When considered in total, that's two more than this time last year. If you look at Lake Michigan specifically, though, you'll see a shocking increase in drowning deaths. So far, 27 people have died from drowning in Lake Michigan. That is up from 15 deaths at this time in 2018. Many who drown are considered good swimmers. And the vast majority are male. MORE

Michigan football ranked in top 10 in early, revised preseason polls

The high expectations continue for the Wolverines, as new preseason polls place Michigan football among the best in the country. One of the two polls predicts Michigan will finally beat Ohio State this season. Jim Harbaugh has said he thinks the favorable pre-season predictions are warranted, though he did walk that back a tad. It will be a while until we actually find out, since the first game on their schedule is still a month away. MORE
