Jury deadlocks on other 2
A federal jury didn’t find four men suspected of conspiring to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer guilty. Brandon Michael-Ray Caserta, 34, of Canton, and Daniel Harris, 24, of Lake Orion, were found not guilty of conspiring to kidnap, a potential life offense. Harris and Caserta were additionally found not guilty on additional weapons charges and will be released from detention. The jury was hung on conspiracy charges against Barry Croft Jr., 46, of Bear, Delaware, Adam Fox, 38, of Wyoming. The U.S. Attorney’s Office could retry Fox and Croft, who remain jailed, on their unresolved counts. The partial verdict came after nearly four weeks of testimony and a full week of deliberations in U.S. District Court in Grand Rapids. READ MORE ►Michigan Gov. | In a normal year, water will freeze on the Mackinac Bridge in winter and stay put until spring, when it thaws and stays gone until the following winter – that hasn’t been the case this year, officials said. This year, fluctuating temperatures – going above and below 32 degrees – have caused cycles of thawing during the day and refreezing at night, Matt Chynoweth, chief bridge engineer for the Michigan Department of Transportation said. As the ice thaws, it falls from the suspension bridge’s cables and 300-foot towers. It can come down in huge, heavy chunks. READ MORE
