$500M settlement reached between Michigan State and Nassar victims
Michigan State University is making good on its pledge to reach a quick settlement with the victims of Larry Nassar. The university agreed to pay $425 million to the 332 current claimants and set aside $75 million for any future claimants alleging sexual abuse by Nassar. The news was announced Wednesday in a press release. Victims were grateful and expressed relief after the settlement was announced. However, the prevailing feeling is that much remains to be done to address the culture at MSU. "We truly can't afford to stop now," said Morgan McCaul, one of the women who spoke at Nassar's sentencing hearing. "This has never been about money, and money will never fix what happened." MORE
Nassar victims could get $250K to $2.5M each

Jeffrey Willis found guilty of kidnapping, murdering Jessica Heeringa

It took five years for justice to be served. But after six days of testimony, it took a jury just an hour and a half of deliberation to deliver its verdict: Jeffrey Willis is guilty for the 2013 kidnapping and murder of Jessica Heeringa. Nearly all of the evidence presented in the case was circumstantial. However, the prosecution successfully portrayed Willis as someone intent on kidnapping, sexually assaulting and murdering women. That wasn't much of a stretch, though, considering Willis previously was convicted for the 2014 murder of jogger Rebekah Bletsch and the 2016 kidnapping of a teen. MORE

Oh, and don't let the file photo of a young and dreamy Val Kilmer fool you. We fully expect the current old Kilmer to make an appearance. (No shade intended, Val. Just more proof that everybody gets old - even Batman.) MORE
