A little chaos can keep you on your toes. Saturday, August 5th is setting the stage to become one of the most historically chaotic entertainment days ever in Detroit. Motown great, Smokey Robinson, is returning to his roots for a special hometown concert at Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit on the same day as six other major performances.

Another Michigan living legend, Madonna, is performing her first Michigan show for the first time since 2015 down the street at Little Caesars Arena. Indie rockers, Mt. Joy will be performing at The Fillmore and just blocks away, musician Keb’ Mo’ will be performing at the Music Hall Center.

If comedy or sports are more of your speed, comedian Deon Cole will be at the Motor City Casino, WWE's Summerslam is being held at Ford Field, and the Detroit Tigers have a home game at Comerica Park against Tampa Bay.

Boy, 8, lost in Michigan’s Porcupine Mountains ate snow, covered himself with leaves

Safe and sound: An 8-year-old boy who got lost in the woods Saturday afternoon and was found two days later survived by eating clean snow and covering himself with leaves for warmth, police said. Nante Niemi is in good health and has been reunited with his family.

Running for president: Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy swung through Michigan this week, pitching himself as the best choice to carry on “Donald Trump’s ‘America first’ agenda.” Ramaswamy said he would ban the Gotion battery plant and Chinese investments in U.S. if elected to office.

5 years after Nassar case, Michigan Senate passes additional sexual assault protections

The Michigan Senate passed bipartisan legislation aimed at increasing accountability for sexual assault related crimes. SB 67 and SB 69 would create guidelines for health professionals performing certain procedures in an effort to prevent sexual assault under the guise of medical treatment.

Some background: The bill package was born out of one Michigan’s most high-profile cases of sexual assault. In 2018, now-disgraced USA gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar was sentenced in Ingham County Circuit Court to up to 175 years in prison for abusing hundreds of women and girls during medical appointments.

A helping hand: Michigan State Housing Development Authority launched a new program to offer up to $500 in monthly rent aid to refugees and other immigrants for 12 months.

80 degrees possible this week in Michigan, See where

Turn up the heat: Friday should be the peak of this week's warming trend with temperatures in some Michigan cities reaching 80 degrees. Don’t think that just because we hit 80 degrees the chance of frost is over. There still could be frost late next week.

On the hunt: This week's gradual warm-up should expand conditions northward for morel mushrooms to pop out of the ground. Morels grow during a period with certain soil temperatures and ample moisture in the soil. Most literature and tales from real-world morel hunters indicate soil temperatures in the 50s start the germination of morels.

Garden Talk: It might be warm now, but remember, things can change in a hurry in Michigan’s weather. There are some long-range model forecasts that still show a possible chill down and frost, so plant with caution.

76ers’ James Harden visits with Michigan State shooting victim

Winning shot: James Harden sank the overtime 3-pointer that sent the 76ers to a playoff victory and instantly waved over John Hao, a paralyzed Michigan State shooting survivor who developed a long-distance FaceTime bond with Philadelphia’s star guard.

Harden had just scored 42 points, removed his sneakers, signed them and handed them to his new friend. “He brought me good vibes, good energy,” Harden said.

Hao was all smiles as he looked on from the court, a needed respite from looming rehabilitation for the international student from China who attended Game 4 as Harden’s guest.

DiGiorno getting in on the Michigan pizza game with Detroit style pies

It's not delivery, it's DiGiorno: Popular frozen pizza brand, DiGiorno, is getting in on the Michigan pizza game by releasing its own version of Detroit style pies. DiGiorno says its new Detroit style pizzas in three flavor varieties will hit store shelves nationwide this spring/summer, meaning, any day now.

State park pride: The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has partnered with Traverse City-based Great Lakes Proud to create a collection of new official merchandise for Michigan’s state parks, trails and waterways. So far, the collection includes T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, cozies, decals and stickers.

Speaking of the outdoors:The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is reminding people who encounter baby animals to leave them alone.
