PFAS safety level in Michigan would double under lame duck bill
A lame duck bill that might make a duck lame? Sounds silly. (And, maybe, not entirely accurate.) But it might be a reality if the Michigan Legislature passes pending legislation. Senate Bill 1244 would double an existing safety threshold for toxic PFAS chemicals in drinking water in the state. Scientific and legal experts say the bill also would hamper the state's ability to rely on new toxicity science and weaken standards for future cleanups. The bill is among several that seek to weaken or limit the purview of state environmental regulators. MORE
