Michigan's 2018 congressional campaign cycle was the most expensive in state history. That's according to the Michigan Campaign Finance Network, which found that spending in Michigan's 14 U.S. House races topped $80 million, doubling the 2016 total. Much of the money helped Democrats unseat some incumbent Republican lawmakers. The 8th District campaign was by far the most expensive, at $28.3 million. Rep. Elissa Slotkin, a Democrat, ousted Republican Rep. Mike Bishop in that race. MORE |
