Ford offers look, update at work on historic Michigan Central Station
The rehabilitation work at Michigan Central Station is underway. Ford Motor Company, which purchased the once-stately-turned-eyesore building this summer, offered an early look at the project. The first of three phases started last week. Construction crews are winterizing the long-vacant train station, drying out the extensive water damage and stabilizing the structure. The automaker plans to spend about $740 million on renovations to buildings that will comprise its Corktown campus. MORE

State rehires doctor accused of Flint water crisis crimes
 
Michigan's chief medical executive Dr. Eden Wells is facing a jury trial on Flint water crisis criminal charges, including involuntary manslaughter. However, that didn't stop the state from hiring her for a newly created position. Dr. Wells' new role as an "advisory physician" within the Department of Health and Human Services comes with an annual salary of $179,672 and civil service protections. MORE

Carolers call out lame duck efforts outside Gov. Snyder's condo
 
Protesters in Ann Arbor on Monday invoked the holiday spirit as they lamented lame duck bills they find Grinch-worthy. The activists sang protest carols to the tune of popular holiday songs outside Gov. Rick Snyder's condo in response to a rash of Republican-led bills moving through the Michigan Legislature during the lame duck session.
