ArtPrize 2018: String Project catches public eye, jurors moved by deeply personal piece
ArtPrize 2018 wrapped up over the weekend in Grand Rapids. Grand prize winners were announced Friday, and then the viewing public enjoyed two more days of wandering the streets and buildings of GR before the 10th rendition of the competition officially ended. The two $200,000 grand prize winners provided an excellent comparison of the variety and styles of art on display throughout the event. The public choice grand prize went to "The STRING PROJECT," which features a series of photos taken around the world of people holding the same piece of string. The juried grand prize went to "brown, carmine and blue," a time-based work that explored one woman's place in the world. MORE

Golladay stars, Crosby crumbles and Lions beat the Packers again (!)
hat
Well, maybe these Detroit Lions aren't as bad as we worried they might be. (They certainly are better than the dumpster fire that got torched by the Jets on opening night!) Most every team in the league would love to do what Detroit did the past three weeks -- earn a pair wins against the Patriots and Packers at home and nearly beat the Cowboys in Dallas. There's much work to be done, but this team seems to be trending in the right direction.
