We hope your Thanksgiving fare was more palatable than that Lions game. Detroit dropped a dud on Thanksgiving, losing 23-16 to a Chicago Bears team relying on its backup quarterback. Matthew Stafford tried to orchestrate a comeback, but threw two late interceptions and missed a potential game-tying touchdown throw. The missteps all but sealed the Lions' fate. Charges against Simon show culture of 'enablement,' senators say
 
News of criminal charges against former Michigan State President Lou Anna Simon reached all the way to Washington, D.C., this week. U.S. Sens. Jerry Moran and Richard Blumenthal released a joint statement accusing Simon of "enablement of abuse," and said the charges of lying to police explain her hesitance to testify before their committee in June. Simon faces two felony and two misdemeanor charges of lying to a peace officer stemming from the investigation into Larry Nassar. MORE

Judge orders Michigan collector to return Belle Isle lighthouse lens

A beehive-shaped lens that once illuminated the Detroit River from the old Belle Isle lighthouse is at the center of an ongoing court battle. A federal judge this week ordered Michigan maritime collector Steven Gronow to return the antique lens to the Coast Guard. Gronow, who obtained the lens from an Indiana historical society, has resisted past attempts to recover the lens from his home in Howell. But the judge issued a stern warning to Gronow, saying his order is "not going to be disobeyed." MORE
