 As the country waited for presidential election results to be tallied in a handful of states yesterday, Michigan was called for former Vice President Joe Biden. It means the state flipped away from President Donald Trump, who narrowly won it in 2016. But the race for the White House isn't over yet, as neither candidate has hit that magical number of 270. Mirroring a prediction by many experts, it means election week rolls on, with a few states still working to count early voting ballots. Michigan also saw a lawsuit filed yesterday from Trump, who claimed poll watchers were not given adequate access to locations where votes were being counted. The president has also requested a recount in Wisconsin, another Midwest state that was called for Biden yesterday.MORE  The U.S. Senate race between Gary Peters and John James remained close yesterday. Ultimately, though, Peters was narrowly able to hang onto his seat. The results came as many of the initially undecided races were called last night. Additionally, a closely watched West Michigan congressional race is sending Republican Peter Meijer to Washington D.C. and the Michigan Supreme Court has changed hands to Democratic control. Here are links to more on those results: ►Republican Peter Meijer wins race to replace Justin Amash in Congress  Cannabis advocates have proclaimed a clear winner of the 2020 election: marijuana. Seven Michigan communities decided on ballot initiatives related to marijuana, nearly all voting to expand the licensing of medical or recreational marijuana businesses. Additionally, multiple states moved to legalize marijuana for both recreational and medicinal use. “The public has spoken loudly and clearly," said Erik Altieri, executive director of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. ►Bucking trend, Kawkawlin marijuana proposal fails in Bay County
 This week has been full of waiting games, so why not one more? Matthew Stafford is in a holding pattern, waiting to see if he will be able to play in the Lions' Sunday game against the Minnesota Vikings. On the same day that Michigan recorded a new record number of daily COVID-19 cases, the quarterback was moved to the COVID list on Wednesday. He hasn't tested positive, but was reportedly in “high-risk, close contact” with a non-team member who did test positive. If he did get pulled from the list, it would be on the same day the game is scheduled. MORE  Who says you have to stay at home all winter long? Some Michigan bars and restaurants are working to make winter a special dining and drinking experience for those willing to venture out into the world.
