 There’s a legislative and philosophical feud boiling in the world of Michigan marijuana. Caregivers, who are each authorized to grow up to 72 plants at a time for themselves and up to five registered medical marijuana patients, are facing off with some of the most powerful commercial producers who believe registered home growers can pose a risk to public safety and supply the black market. While no laws have been formally proposed, lobbyists for the Michigan Cannabis Manufacturers Association have been feeling out the Legislature with an eye on further restricting caregiver grow limits, requiring testing and tracking product similar to licensed businesses, said Jamie Lowell, a legalization pioneer and the director of social responsibility and advocacy at the Botanical Company, a marijuana retailer based in Lansing. READ MORE  It took two weeks for students to meet the University of Michigan’s vaccination goals. That means a relaxation of some COVID-19 masking requirements could be on the horizon. U-M reports that 76% of its students are fully vaccinated, as of the July 20 update on its COVID-19 data dashboard. University officials set a 75% vaccination goal on July 6, giving the possibility that the indoor mask requirement could go away for fully vaccinated students. For reaching this “important and positive milestone,” UM will update “decisions regarding masking requirements in classes by July 31,” said university spokeswoman Kim Broekhuizen. Three of the “smartest, most athletic guys with unlimited potential” gone too early, Cook said, recalling memories of recent graduates Dawson Brown, Richie Mays Jr. and Kole Sova.  Two years ago, as he and his hand-picked group of Michigan football players arrived for the Big Ten’s annual media event for the coming football season, Jim Harbaugh had a lot of promoting to do. He was coming off the splashy hire of Josh Gattis as offensive coordinator, and wanted to promote his one-time transfer idea. Harbaugh also declared that he had the best football team in the league. If you recall, the Wolverines were picked by the media to win the conference championship. Now, as the 2021 season fast approaches, Harbaugh and three more players will descend on Indianapolis later this week to try and sell another change to his coaching staff. We caught up with Wake the World as they took to the lake to teach kids about water sports. Boat owners got together to offer up a fun day on the lake to youth in the area. Some learned to wakeboard, some rode on tubes pulled behind boats, but it sounds like everyone had a good time.
