Christmas sprit across Michigan: From Santa sightings to record tree lightings
 
If you have yet to feel the joy of the holiday season, well, maybe this assortment of stories will help. And, if you already are feeling the yule tidings, let's see if your Christmas amp goes to 11. The city of Adrian kicks off this holiday roundup with an attempt at setting a Guinness World Record for number of illuminated trees in one location. (This one looks like it's in Santa's bag, as we assume they say at the North Pole.) Speaking of trees, Grand Rapids and Portage celebrated Christmas tree lighting ceremonies. DNR to auction public land in 'prime locations'

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources annually auctions off parcels of the state in its ongoing effort to "efficiently manage public land." This year's list of available properties includes 147 parcels ranging in size from less than an acre to 160 acres. The land is located in 22 counties, with some of the largest parcels found in Alpena, Dickenson and Newaygo counties. MORE
