Contact tracing in Michigan facing a growing resistance In its simplest explanation, here's how contact tracing works: Contact tracers call coronavirus patients to brief them on how to isolate themselves, and do regular follow-up calls to track their symptoms and ensure they are following isolation guidelines. They also ask patients to identify others they might have infected, so those people can get tested. Contact tracing is considered a key strategy in limiting the spread of coronavirus. You identify the people, you identify who they came into contact with and then attempt to interrupt the spread. Sounds pragmatic, right? Well, according to a new study by the University of Michigan, almost a third of Michigan residents would not be comfortable participating in contract tracing linked to cases of COVID-19. And not having full participation can really defeat the purpose. That's not the only interesting finding.
