D.B. Cooper author unveils alleged evidence that identifies infamous skyjacker
Could the man wearing a suit and shades in this worn photograph be D.B. Cooper, the perpetrator of the only unsolved skyjacking in U.S. history in 1971? The author of a new book on the mystery believes so, and he presented what he says is the evidence supporting his theory at a news conference Thursday in Grand Rapids. The man in the picture actually is Walter "Walt" Reca, a Michigan native who died in 2014 at the age of 79. Author Carl Laurin says Reca was his best friend, who over time disclosed details of the highjacking in a series of correspondences. Whether this story proves to be more fact or more fiction is up for debate. But, really, who doesn't love a good mystery? And the riddle of D.B. Cooper certainly qualifies. MORE

What one morel master has learned from a lifetime on the hunt

We are going to just get out of the way and let MLive Life and Culture reporter Emily Bingham set the stage: "He's been in the woods for only a half-hour, but Alex Wenner is already soaked. An overnight spring storm has turned the thick forests around Wenner's house into a dripping, puddled mess; lingering bursts of rain, trailing in the storm's wake all morning aren't making the situation easier. Wenner's socks are clotted with mud and burrs; wading through waist-high wild rose and raspberry bushes has left his bare calves and forearms laced with bright red scratches. Yet the guy is literally grinning." MORE

Column: Tigers fans don't deserve Miguel Cabrera's strange sound off

Miguel Cabrera's time wearing the Old English D of the Detroit Tigers has, for the most part, been enjoyable for fans and the franchise alike. Plus, it has made Cabrera a multi-millionaire. However, MLive Tigers beat reporter Evan Woodbury takes Miggy to task for his recent comments, which may or may not have been directed at fans. Whatever the future Hall of Famer meant, we may never fully understand. But, for better or for worse, when The Big Man talks, our collective ears tend to perk up. MORE

Catching up with Hall and Oates as tour with Train chugs in to Detroit

MLive '80s pop star beat reporter Ed Pevos spoke with the super duo Hall and Oates before this Sunday's show at Little Ceasar's Arena. It sure seems as if these dudes just love playing music and have no plans to retire anytime soon. And, heck, why stop doing what you love doing when one of your biggest problems is coming up with a setlist because you've recorded too many hits? (#superstarproblems) The good news is if you miss 'em in Detroit this weekend, you can catch 'em in July in Grand Rapids. Yeah, we can go for that (yes can do). MORE
