Michigan State apologized after an image of Adolf Hitler appeared on the video board Saturday night prior to the game and starting right tackle Spencer Brown was ejected for a personal foul with 9:49 left in the third quarter.

Michigan has suspended the low-level staffer reportedly at the center of the NCAA’s latest probe into the program over scouting violations. Jim Harbaugh believes his team has become a target.

Don’t want property taxes? Repeal may be on Michigan’s 2024 ballot

Seeking your vote: An effort to eliminate property taxes in Michigan is trying to land on next year’s November election ballot. Axe MI Tax is a proposed state constitutional amendment to forbid taxation and collection on real estate and personal property.

What would change: Local governments would thus be required to fund essential services through existing state income, sales, alcohol, tobacco and marijuana taxes. As controversial as this issue might be, it’s still a long way from showing up in a voting booth.

Speaking of marijuana: Growing illegal marijuana in Michigan, even potentially thousands of plants, is only a misdemeanor crime, the state Court of Appeals ruled on Oct. 5.

UAW sees movement in Big 3 negotiations but there are still ‘cards left to play’

An update: Wage increases, an end to tiers and paid parental leave were major highlights from the fifth week of negotiations between the Big Three and the United Auto Workers. Even so, the strike will continue, UAW president Shawn Fain said on Friday, Oct. 20.

Not alone: Simultaneously thousands of auto, health insurance and hospitality workers are on the picket line in Michigan. As these strikes grow in size and length it begs the question: are unions becoming more powerful?

$15 minimum wage proposal hits roadblock for 2024 ballot

Slowed down: A proposed ballot initiative to gradually increase Michigan’s minimum wage to $15-an-hour by 2027 has hit a momentary roadblock in its quest to go before voters in the November 2024 election.

Tied: The Board of State Canvassers on Friday deadlocked, 2-2, along party lines on declaring the Raise the Wage petition fit for the ballot.

What NOAA’s new winter forecast really means for Michigan
