Electric Forest in full swing as festival-goers take over the village of Rothbury
 
Some music-lovers wait all year for this weekend. It's the weekend when the small village of Rothbury explodes with people attending Electric Forest, a festival full of live music and visually striking scenery. Campers set up tents yesterday as the sold-out festival kicked off and they will remain on the grounds at the Double JJ Resort through Sunday. How U.S. Supreme Court gerrymandering ruling affects Michigan
 
A panel of U.S. District Court judges found Michigan's political maps were among the most biased in the nation, skewed to have advantaged Republicans for nearly a decade. They ruled the maps be fixed by 2020. However, Michigan will be stuck with those maps until at least 2022 after Thursday's U.S. Supreme Court ruling. The highest court in the land ruled it is not the job of federal courts to rule on partisan gerrymandering. The ruling effectively "killed" the lower courts' decision. MORE

State files lawsuit in move to shut down Line 5
 
And so it begins. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel on Thursday filed court papers in an effort to shut down the controversial Line 5 oil and gas pipeline running along the floor of the Straits of Mackinac. The move comes less than a month since Enbridge Energy and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer failed to reach an agreement to decommission the pipeline. MORE
