Going down: Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore welcomed more than 1.5 million visitors in 2022, the lowest visitation number for the northwest lower Michigan park since 2014. Welcome back: The first piping plover to return to the Great Lakes region this spring has been reported at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, marking the official start of another breeding season for the federally endangered shorebird. Another top spot: From upgrades at Mackinac’s popular resorts like Mission Point and Grand Hotel, to new restaurants downtown and new exhibits at Fort Mackinac, it’s going to be a busy year for Mackinac Island, here's what is new for 2023. |
