December 10, 2021 Famed Michigan attorney Geoffrey N. Fieger has filed two $100 million federal lawsuits against the Oxford Community School District on behalf of two students affected by the Nov. 30 mass shooting. The suits name the school district, Superintendent Timothy Throne, Oxford High School Principal Steven Wolf, Dean of Students Ryan Moore, two counselors, two teachers, and a staff member. Ethan R. Crumbley, a 15-year-old sophomore allegedly opened fire inside the high school. His bullets fatally wounded four students — Madisyn Baldwin, 17; Tate Myre, 16; Hana St. Juliana, 14; and Justin Shilling, 17 — and wounded six more students and one teacher. “The horror of November 30, 2021, was entirely preventable,” the suits state. “Each and every Defendant named herein created and increased the dangers then-existing at Oxford High School.” READ MORE Health care workers, in the midst of a crushing swell in COVID-19 hospitalizations, are more concerned about what is right before them than the fast-spreading omicron variant. “If you are a threat level of DEFCON (1)… How can you go higher than that?” said Dr. Jon Sangeorzan, an infectious disease specialist at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey. “It’s the serenity prayer. The plan would put an additional $667 million towards COVID-19 testing overall, $300 million of which would be dedicated to getting test kits to schools. Another $100 million would go to employers testing unvaccinated workers, and $90 million would contribute to vaccination efforts in the state.
