Weekend forecast: Will your town get out of the deep freeze? hat  Well, we thought some warmer than normal temperatures were headed our way to offer a respite from this week's deep freeze. Turns out, weather is fickle. MLive chief meteorologist Mark Torregrossa says the weekend is fairly clear of snow. The Petoskey stone might have a challenger in prehistoric sea scorpions   Let's get this out of the way: We think Petoskey stones are friggin' awesome. But, man, prehistoric sea scorpion fossils are pretty darn cool! Just another reason why the Great Lakes are so sweet. They are beautiful, provide fresh water and offer ample recreation opportunities. They also are ripe for scientific discoveries. F Trips to the state semifinals on the line for prep football teams hat  To reach the state semifinals, high school football teams this weekend are going to need to overcome two challenges: Their opponent and the elements. The cold temps in the forecast certainly will add a chilly wrinkle to a dynamic slate of regional final games.
