Faster Horses: Country music, American flags, and one heck of a three-day party
The Faster Horses Festival organizers certainly know how to put on a show. From Blake Shelton and 40,000 fans outlasting a rain delay Friday night to Brooks & Dunn reuniting for a raucous show Saturday to Florida Georgia Line closing things out Sunday night, and all the acts in between, the sixth edition of the "hillbilly sleepover" didn't disappoint. MLive's opening gate to closing gate coverage was robust. We took a video tour through the infield, produced a fun time-lapse video of the crowd, got a taste of just how patriotic country music fans are, and were reminded that life above the crowd is the best way to go. We already are counting down the days until next year's festival. Michigan governor candidates talk abortion

Abortion is a big talking point in this year's election cycle. Of course, the divisive issue has been a hot-button topic for decades. However, with the U.S. Supreme Court on the verge of having a pro-life majority, debate on the issue has found new purchase in the run up to August primaries across the country. Michigan governor candidates have not been spared. And for good reason. If Roe v. Wade is overturned, abortion legality reverts back to the states. In Michigan, a law still on the books from 1846 makes abortion illegal.

Projected starters for Michigan football

Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh has never been one to tip his hand. So coming up with a projected two-deep line-up for the Wolverines' 2018 squad in the middle of July isn't a simple task. MLive's Michigan beat reporter Aaron McMann was up to the task of making some educated guesses, though. Of note, McMann has junior transfer Shea Patterson leading the pack at quarterback, and a bevy of NFL-caliber talent lining up on defense. MORE

SantaCon, mud run make for odd event partners

O.K., so the FrankenMüdder and the SantaCon were not officially partners. However, the two events shared a lot in common. Both took place Saturday in Frankenmuth. Both were fundraisers. And both involved crawling — one in the mud and the other from bar to bar. Hmmm... that gives us an idea. How about next year the organizers of these events actually partner up for an event called: Christmas in the Müdder of all Julys. (You're welcome.) MORE
