October 23, 2020 Leaders from 110 of Michigan’s 137 hospitals called it “imperative” that every Michigan resident follow safety protocols put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and keep hospitals from being overwhelmed in the near future. The Michigan Health & Hospital Association released a joint statement as the state is reporting increases in new coronavirus cases, deaths, hospitalizations and positive test rates daily. In the statement, the chief medical officers and chief clinical officers noted that Michigan has recently seen hospitalizations surge by more than 80%. MORE Michigan Democrats are hoping to flip four state House seats in the upcoming election. If they do, that would mean Democrats would control the chamber for the first time since 2010. The party would also have the advantage in controlling the state's divided government. But Republicans feel the math points to them maintaining their legislative majority past 2020. For both parties, much of the focus this election cycle has been on open seats where demographics have shifted over time. There is excitement surrounding the game. It's a long-awaited return to football for the Spartans, and they are expected to win.
