 Munson Healthcare, based in Traverse City, has activated protocols for Pandemic Response Level Red for the first time in the organization’s history. Spectrum Health says its Grand Rapids-area hospitals are at record capacity. The growth in COVID-19 hospitalizations is “very concerning,” says the Michigan Health & Hospital Association. But COVID patients are only one of many reasons that Michigan hospitals are in this bad situation. And these reasons are not a quick fix. Marino is seeing a different type of winter here in Michigan compared to the Climate Prediction Center’s forecast. READ MORE  A week after the challenges and responses have been laid out on a national level, Michigan attorneys are trying to make sense of what to tell their clients. “We are inundated with calls from employees with questions,” employment law attorney Rob Howard said. Howard, who represents workers in Grand Rapids through Bos & Glazier law firm, said the calls started before the mandate even went into effect. Most calls are regarding employee exemptions, he said.
