The small Holland restaurant attracted conspiracy theorists and right-wing activists who argued the jailing of the eatery's owner reveals a plot by communist “tyrants” to strip Americans of their civil liberties. “It’s in line with broader government ideas and conspiracies that have been around for decades about the government using some sort of crisis, which may be real or fabricated, to violate your rights,” said Sam Jackson, from University at Albany, who studies extremist groups. As of April 4, Michigan has administered 4,706,383 doses of vaccine. About 36.5% of the state’s 16 and older population is partially vaccinated, and almost 23% is fully vaccinated, according to the Department of Health and Human Services. Those first-dose recipients now include Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who publicly got it Tuesday at Ford Field.
