As Election Day approaches, here's a look at the Secretary of State candidates. |
Jocelyn Benson: A Democrat, and the incumbent, she was elected in 2018. Benson hopes her record of leading Michigan through “a tumultuous, ever-changing time of uncertainty” after the 2020 election means voters will give her four more years on Nov. 8. Kristina Karamo: Karamo beat multiple local clerks and a state lawmaker at a Republican convention this spring, securing the party’s nomination for Michigan Secretary of State, the office that oversees elections. Though Karamo has not responded to requests for interview from MLive, we looked through information available on her website.
