As I've mentioned here before, MLive reporter Edward Pevos lives a fun life. He hops aboard the Boblo boat, he takes lots of selfies with famous faces and he attends the hottest concerts.

While I'm exhausted just thinking about his calendar, Ed has so much passion and energy to bring you these entertaining stories week after week. And I always like to check in on what he's up to.

This week, Ed has a feature on a really gorgeous $4.6 million dream home on breathtaking Torch Lake. He also has a list of celebrities that are making their way to Michigan this weekend. And I'm sure he'll have his selfie stick ready.

How Proposal 2 could change the way Michigan residents vote.

What is Proposal 2? More commonly known as Promote the Vote 2022, the movement behind passing the proposal, or PTV – is a wide reaching measure that would put certain voting powers directly in the state’s constitution.

What people are saying: Democratically-aligned groups say the effort would make voting more accessible while maintaining the same level of ballot security, though conservative groups insist Proposal 2, if enacted, would only serve to weaken Michigan’s election laws.

As Election Day approaches, here's a look at the Secretary of State candidates.

Jocelyn Benson: A Democrat, and the incumbent, she was elected in 2018. Benson hopes her record of leading Michigan through “a tumultuous, ever-changing time of uncertainty” after the 2020 election means voters will give her four more years on Nov. 8.

Kristina Karamo: Karamo beat multiple local clerks and a state lawmaker at a Republican convention this spring, securing the party’s nomination for Michigan Secretary of State, the office that oversees elections. Though Karamo has not responded to requests for interview from MLive, we looked through information available on her website.

Michigan's foster care system is set to take 'a step in the right direction' under new laws.

New laws: Measures recently signed into law will be making significant changes to Michigan’s overloaded child welfare system. The bipartisan package aims to increase protections for foster youth and remove barriers for hopeful adoptive families.

One key change: The new law expands kinship care options by allowing a non-parent adult with close emotional ties to the child such as a family friend to meet the definition of “family” for the purposes of youth placement. Read about the other changes here.

Can Michigan basketball programs become the best tandem in the nation?

Success for both teams:Last season, Michigan was one of just three schools that reached the Sweet 16 in both the men’s and women’s NCAA basketball tournaments, along with Iowa State and North Carolina. (The Wolverine women went a step further and made it to the Elite Eight.)

How far can they go? The women’s NCAA tournament started in 1982. Per the Sporting News, there have been only 13 instances of a school’s men’s and women’s programs reaching the Final Four in the same season. Could Michigan be the next?

Two Michigan universities make the list of the top 150 schools in the world.

The Maize and Blue: The University of Michigan was ranked No. 23 in the world in the Times Higher Education World University rankings, making it the highest ranked university in the state and among its Big Ten Conference peers. 

The Green and White:Michigan State University also made the list, coming in at No. 106. Harvard University ranked second in the world and first among American universities, while University of Oxford in England ranked first overall.

Speaking of rankings: Here's a less distinguished ranking — a Michigan city came in at No. 2 on the list of the worst U.S. cities to drive in, according to financial site WalletHub.
