 Michigan is amid a surge in coronavirus cases. As the COVID-19 numbers climb, experts are looking at the differences between the new spike and the surge the state experienced at the start of the pandemic. There are some important ways in which this surge is likely to be different. Certainly, we know a lot more about COVID-19 now, including a better understanding of how the virus is spread and how to effectively treat symptoms caused by the virus. There are also some new challenges, like COVID fatigue and the concerns about the pandemic overlapping with flu season. MORE  More Michigan senior citizens have requested absentee ballots so far this fall than the total who voted in 2016. Absentee ballot requests by voters age 18 to 24 so far equate to 67% of the total 2016 vote by that group. With trends like that, it’s understandable that multiple political analysts are anticipating record turnout in next week’s election -- perhaps as high as 6 million voters in Michigan, blowing past the current record of 5,039,080 votes cast in 2008. Tens of thousands of Michiganders joined some of the groups, with moderators and fellow members assisting those with questions and concerns. Users post questions or links to new information nearly every hour, if not more.  Well, look at that. The Lions are back at .500. A last-minute win in Atlanta on Sunday got Detroit to 3-3. Are they on the way up from there? We will have to wait and see.
