Bay City is a delicious destination for a Michigan's Best Day
If you haven't spent a day in Bay City lately, you are really missing out. From the bustling downtown to the beach to the hidden food gems, this little city has lots to offer. That's why MLive's dynamic duo of Amy Sherman and John "Gonzo" Gonzalez picked the town for their latest edition of Michigan's Best Day. The video series highlights some of the very best things Michigan cities have to offer. During their trip to Bay City, Amy and John experience a coffee shop that doubles as a Beatles museum, eat some of the state's best fried chicken, drink one of Michigan's Best bloody Marys, check out a decommissioned naval destroyer and more. Take a look at their trip and then plan your own Michigan's Best Day in Bay City. MORE

How legalized marijuana would work in Michigan

Michigan voters will be given the chance Nov. 8 to vote on making recreational marijuana legal in the state. But what does that mean? Well, we've got you covered with a thorough breakdown of what the proposed recreational marijuana system would look like. Here are a couple of highlights: Pot would be regulated much like alcohol with an age limit and driving restrictions. There also would be personal possession limits in place, and employers could still fire workers for using it. MORE

PFAS found in city water system, residents told to stop using the water

Thursday night brought another breaking news story about PFAS contamination in Michigan. Health officials issued an advisory at 9 p.m. telling residents in the city of Parchment and Cooper Township - both just north of Kalamazoo - to immediately stop using tap water after high levels of PFAS were found in the public system. A sample tested by the Michigan DEQ registered 1,410 parts-per-trillion, well above the recommended safety level of 70 ppt. MORE

Trammell and Morris took long path to Hall of Fame

Alan Trammell and Jack Morris will be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday in Cooperstown, New York. (We found that sentence to be exceedingly satisfying to type.) The Detroit Tiger greats were drafted by the franchise in the same year. They came up through the minors together. They led the Tigers to the 1984 World Series. And they also both spent the maximum 15 years on the Hall of Fame ballot, never garnering enough votes by the Baseball Writers Association of America. Thankfully, there's more than one way to reach the Hall. MORE

Michigan's biggest mushroom house hits the market for $2.75 million

The mushroom houses of Charlevoix are a wonder. Designed by Earl Young, there are nearly 30 of them - each with their own unique features. The biggest of these homes is for sale. MLive Hobbit-like architecture beat writer Ed Pevos walks us through a stunning photo gallery of this outstanding property on the shores of Lake Michigan. (Yup. We could totally see ourselves living here, enjoying the evenings with a pinch of Old Toby in the pipe.) MORE
