Negotiators meet again, but UAW strike continues
 
Picket lines remain at GM plants across Michigan and the country as a UAW strike enters day 30. Negotiators met again on Monday, but the union and the car manufacturer have yet to announce progress on a contract agreement. Union plans for the coming week include organizing free flu shots and clothing swaps for workers on strike. MORE

Packers best Lions in another heartbreaker loss

As that bitter taste of defeat flooded the mouths of Detroit Lions fans again, many blamed the refs for a Monday night loss to the Packers. MLive's Kyle Meinke puts the blame squarely on Detroit, though. According to Meinke, the guys in Honolulu blue squandered their chance at victory. There were lots of of field goals where there could have been touchdowns. And, sure, bad calls don't help, but the Lions should have never let it get so close in the fourth quarter. MORE

Mother's breast cancer prompts daughter to get preventative mastectomy
 
In 2016, Kristine Barrows got word that her breast cancer had returned and it was a stage four diagnosis. Her daughter, Anna Brooks, recalls that day as the worst of her life. Watching her mother fight cancer twice led the Ypsilanti resident to learn she has a gene mutation that dramatically increases her odds of getting breast cancer.
