Rare oak savanna being restored at one of Michigan's newest parks   Before European settlers came to Michigan, there were trees - from tall pine forests to great swaths of hemlock and birch. There also was a fragile ecosystem known as an oak savanna. Today, less than 1 percent of these rare habitats remain in Michigan. Week 1 is in the books for preps and college, so let's rank 'em hat  The first week of the season didn't alter the college football landscape all that much. Our weekly Big Ten rankings reflect that. Aside from some middle-of-the-pack jostling, most things remain unchanged. (Michigan and Michigan State didn't budge much in the national rankings, either.)
