April winter batters Michigan with ice storm, flooding and more snow
The 2018 winter that won't die pulled out another trick from its bag of weather woes: A giant stalled weather pattern over the Great Lakes that tormented us all weekend long with freezing rain, snow showers, high winds and flooding. The system toppled trees, downed power lines (more than 300,000 people in Metro Detroit lost power), forced a partial closure of the Mackinac Bridgeflooded communities, and gave a Grand Rapids couple a scare when a large branch crashed onto their moving car. Thankfully, the 10-day forecast is looking a bit better. But we've been fooled before. MORE

However, the gap seems to be narrowing, as women in the state earned 78 cents on the dollar compared to their male counterparts in 2016, which was up 4 cents from the previous year. MLive impact reporter Julie Mack's latest data dive includes a searchable database of Michigan county-level wage statistics. MORE

Wagner declares for NBA draft, says thanks to fans

Moritz Wagner is ready for the next challenge. The Michigan center from Germany declared for the NBA draft over the weekend, foregoing his final year of collegiate eligibility. Wagner toyed with going to the NBA after last season, but returned and led the Wolverines in scoring and rebounding, and to a surprising run to the national title game. Wagner joins Michigan State's Miles Bridges and Jaren Jackson in this year's draft. We say thanks for the college memories to all three. MORE

This is how as many as 30 wolves could be released on Isle Royal

The famed Isle Royal wolf pack is down to just two animals. The Island's moose population has ballooned to more than 1,600. The National Parks Service has a plan in place to address both issues by capturing wolves from surrounding areas and releasing them on the Lake Superior island. The plan has yet to be approved, and it is not without its detractors. However, this is how it would happen, if it gets approved. MORE

Movie review: Dwayne does what Dwayne does in 'Rampage'

There's really nothing like a Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson movie to get MLive's resident snark master, a-hem, movie critic John Serba going. We love his prose. Here's a taste: "If you want to tell a story in which your intrepid cinema idol desperately and implausibly flies half a helicopter to safety - more than once, I might add - you cast no one but The Rock." Spot on. Read the full review of 'Rampage' here. MORE
