The illustrated history of the magical season of the 1968 World Champion Detroit Tigers
Detroit was a city on edge in the summer of 1968. Just a year removed from the infamous race riots that nearly tore the city apart, residents needed something, anything, positive to focus on. The Detroit Tigers stepped into that void. Behind a backdrop of civil rights unrest and anti-Vietnam protests across the country, the Tigers united the city of Detroit during a run to the World Series title. MLive has been chronicling all summer the exploits of that special '68 team and its players 50 years later. We now offer a history of that season as illustrated by artist Larrea Young. It is an impressive work of art. MORE

Accusations have been lobbed and both sides are calling the other a liar. MORE
