In today's newsletter, a weather rollercoaster is on the way, how an E. coli outbreak linked to Wendy's impacted Michiganders and what's up with the "chonky" squirrels near the University of Michigan? |
Happy Election Day, Michiganders! |
It's finally here — the general election. Today, Michiganders will head to the polls to decide on proposals, statewide races, local races and more. Many already participated by submitting an absentee ballot. If you still have one in your possession, make sure to get it to your clerk's office before 8 p.m. You can find the office location here. Stop by MLive.com tonight, where we will have all of the results as they come in. But be warned, officials have stated there could be a delay in results for close races, since so many voters went with absentee ballots this year. No matter how long it takes to get the final counts, we will stay on top of it.
And, of course, tomorrow morning I will have all the election news I can fit into the Morning Briefing delivered right here to your inbox. But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves – there is plenty of news to read in today's edition of the newsletter.

Five themes to watch in today's Michigan midterm election. |
What to watch: As the votes roll in today, our political team members are keeping an eye on some specifics. For example, how many young people will turn up at the polls? That could make a big difference in the results. Read more about that and other themes to watch in today's election here. In the Michigan Legislature: Thanks to redistricting, there are 10 key races that Democrats believe they may have a chance of flipping for the first time since 1984. How do I check on my absentee ballot? Did you mail or personally return your absentee ballot already? If you'd like to make sure the clerk received it, you can do that easily. In fact, it will only take 60 seconds. Here' s the info. |
