John James announces 2020 run for U.S. Senate
 
Michigan Republican leadership wanted John James to run again. The Iraq veteran gave them their wish on the 75th anniversary of D-Day. James announced Thursday morning on the TV show "Fox & Friends" that he will campaign for the Republican nomination in the 2020 U.S. Senate race. James proved a strong challenger in 2018 to U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow. If he earns his party's nomination, James will face another incumbent Democrat in Gary Peters. MORE

Fiat Chrysler pulls proposal to merge with Renault
 
A proposed merger between Fiat Chrysler and Renault would have created the world's third-largest automaker. However, after a promising start, talks hit a snag and FCA backed away. The Auburn-based automaker is blaming politics in France. France, which owns a stake in Renault, is blaming FCA. And Nissan, which is 43% owned by Renault, was never fully on board. MORE

Normandy invasion veteran describes the hellish days after D-Day
 
Jerry Johnston took part in the Normandy invasion. His best friend died during the D-Day landing. He arrived a day later and escaped multiple brushes with death while fighting in World War II.
