Michigan lawmakers could vote to legalize marijuana this week

Michigan Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekhof, R-West Olive, has a plan to legalize recreational marijuana this week, instead of sending it before voters in November. Meekhof wants to get in front of regulating marijuana, in part because it is difficult to amend voter-approved laws. Republicans have the majority in both chamber, however, Meekhof's plan is not supported by Michigan House Speaker Tom Leonard, R-DeWitt. Polling suggests the issue will be popular among Michigan voters. MORE

The last time the Tigers had the top pick was in 1997. They selected Matt Anderson, a hard-throwing right hander who dominated in college. This year, the Tigers are linked to another hard-throwing right hander out of college: Auburn's Casey Mize. Here's to hoping for better results. MORE
