Judge rules 3 of 4 little piggies can't stay home  
Some pigs have been known to be terrific pets. But many city ordinances regard pigs as livestock. And, well, rules are rules. An Ypsilanti family was reduced to tears Wednesday as a judge ordered the removal of three of the family's four potbellied pigs from the family home. Stephanie Rowland contended in court her four pigs were emotional support animals. While Judge Kirk Tabbey agreed with that assessment, he found no legal precedent for an individual to own multiple support animals. The pigs must be gone by April 18. MORE

Gov. Snyder officially endorses Calley to replace him
 
The field of candidates looking to replace Rick Snyder in the November election for Michigan governor is packed. The all-important primaries come first, though, and Republican hopeful Brian Calley picked up a key endorsement Wednesday. As expected, Snyder officially picked his longtime lieutenant governor to replace him. Attorney General Bill Schuette has garnered a few high-profile endorsements, too, including one from President Donald Trump. MORE

Michigan DEQ focuses on wastewater plants in effort to get PFAS out of waterways
 
PFAS are nasty toxicants. They have been linked to some cancers, thyroid disorders and other diseases. The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality is making a concerted effort to remove these industrial byproducts out of our state waterways and keep them from polluting drinking water supplies. The first step is finding where the PFAS come from, and monitoring wastewater facilities is an excellent place to start. MORE
